One answer might be Sarah MacLean my guest on today's "A Book and a Chat".

A Book and a Chat with "Dianne Castell"

If you like a down to earth romance novel, with humor, plenty of twists perhaps a ghost or two and a happy ever after ending then books by my special radio show guest tonight are for you.

Dianne Castell is an USA Today award winning author whose books are ideal for anybody wanting to escape from this world for a moment and find themselves in the romantic southern states.

Her books are down to earth not one of those flowery romantic novels that use words almost from another age. They are modern romantic novels that keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next, with humor nor far away they are great fun to read.

Listen to tonight's fun and enjoyable show as we discuss about her writing, how she started and what she is working on now.

Learn how she does not have time for her hobbies because of her writing, but when she lists of her hobbies as cleaning toilets you might understand that is perhaps not a bad thing.

A Book and a Chat with "Ruby Dominguez"

The author, Ruby Dominguez, is challenged by the conflicting complexities of the past and future. Undeterred, she strokes with pen the somber and bright hues of her visions.

Listen as we discuss her life and her new book "THE PERUKE MAKER". Inspired by true events, is a meticulously researched screenplay that is laced with relevance and substance. The book follows the unforgettable spiritual and emotional journey of BRIDGET CANE, a stunning 17th Century woman and SARAH, a product of the
2lst Century who are inextricably bound together in a tenuous journey that comes full circle.

STORYHEARTS SUNDAY UK BLOG - A HOLIDAY ROMANCE

One of the things that has been mentioned by some regarding my book "Across the Pond" is how can anybody fall for, or care for somebody is just a few days as do Fred and Brit?

My answer is... Do you not have holiday romances in the US?

Thinking about this it is different in the UK where holidays are often taken to a different country and environment, an rules go out the window. Going from England to places such as Spain or Greece there are always the three "S" words (Sun, Sea and Sex). Getting up mid afternoon so you can party until the next breakfast time is not unusual. (Anybody ever been on an Club 18-30 holiday?)

A holiday romance can sweep you off your feet and also leave you feeling deserted and heartbroken. Follow these tips to ensure your summer fling goes with a swing

You're more likely to have a romance on holiday than at home. It's a fact. You feel physically relaxed and emotionally renewed, you're away from your daily routine and the stresses and strains of home and work - basically, you're ready to fall in love. And why not?

1: A holiday fling can make you feel like a queen/king and boost your confidence sky-high. However, on the down side, if the other party is keener than you, you could be left feeling under pressure, pestered and even stalked.

2: Emotions run high on holiday and, if you're embroiled in a romance, you may quickly feel very close to your partner. Passion can over-heat and intense intimacy may suddenly turn to conflict.

3: Holiday sex can be brilliant. The excitement of being on holiday, combined with sun, bare flesh and a few drinks can put even the most demure person in the mood for sex.

The problem is that holiday sex can get out of control. People often report getting carried away with the moment and having sex with a stranger. Once the sun comes up, all they're left with is guilt and regrets.

4: The holiday environment can be the perfect place to meet a potential new partner. However, you can get involved far too quickly and pin your hopes on the impossible. If he's not as keen, you may quickly end up with a broken heart.

5: Many flourishing and happy relationships, particularly in the thirty-plus age groups, start on holiday. If you think you've met your perfect partner, your holiday romance could well be the start of a lifelong commitment.

6: If you pair off with a local, you can get to see the country you're visiting from an insider's point of view - and often have the holiday of a lifetime.

But be warned - dating a local comes with hazards. Firstly, you may be just one of a series of summer flings for him. And, on the other hand, if you are both serious, be prepared for potential clashes of culture. You and your holiday beau might have deep-rooted attitudes that you don't share.

WILL IT LAST?

Many single people—from students to baby boomers—consider holiday romance an enticing, if not essential, part of a perfect summer holiday. No wonder so many people on holiday feel that love is in the air as soon as their car leaves the garage or their plane leaves the tarmac.

But for most summer lovers the joy is short-lived, because the majority of holiday romances last less than a week, according to a survey of 2,000 people in Great Britain.

Nearly nine in 10 holiday romances end within one week, with the average duration being just three days, according to a resent survey.

Does it matter? Even if your holiday romance follows the usual trend and ends after just a few days, you will still end up with some great memories.

A Book and a Chat with "Joanne Sundell"

Tonight's "Book and a Chat" blog radio show was with historical romance author JOANNE SUNDELL.

Joanne grew up reading romance, falling in love with heroes and heroines from Regency England to the American West, from London’s pubs to Colorado’s ski slopes, loving that moment when the hero and heroine meet and fall in love. That moment to Joanne is the moment when Jane Eyre meets Edward Rochester, when Elizabeth Bennett meets Mr. Darcy — that’s the heart-stopping, passionate moment for Joanne in romance.

That moment is what led her to attempt traditional, old-fashioned, historical romance. Joanne sold her first book, Matchmaker, Matchmaker, in 2005 to Five Star-Gale, Cengage Learning, for their Expressions Line, a combination of romance and women’s fiction. Subsequent sales include A…My Name’s Amelia, The Parlor House Daughter, and her latest book Meggie’s Remains, and The Quaker and the Confederate series, Hearts Divided and Hearts Persuaded. Her books have been reviewed nationally by Publisher’s Weekly, Booklist, Library Journal, and Romantic Times. With her three children grown and off on their own adventures, Joanne lives part-time in Colorado and California along with her husband and their entourage` of felines and huskies. Joanne’s writing groups include Romance Writers of America, Colorado Romance Writers, Los Angeles Romance Writers, Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, and Women Writing the West.

A Laugh, a Joke and an English Accent

As I sometimes introduce my blog radio show "A Book and Chat" which by the way is becoming so popular I am now taking bookings for November. I am not really a writer, I always class myself as a Story Teller. However what I love doing is having fun, something I think we all should try and have in our lives.

So today's blog I'll give you a heads up (where did that saying come from?) about some up and coming events. Some interviews from this last week and a couple of jokes that I hope will bring a smile to your face.

THIS WEEK;

This week has been good for appearances and interviews

I was firstly one of the guests on ROBIN FALLS KIDS STORY TIME
Reading from my book and answering a couple of questions

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/RobinFalls/2009/07/22/Robin-Falls-Kids-Story-Time

I have also been appearing on several pages at Best Seller World

http://www.bestsellersworld.com/?p=732

http://www.bestsellersworld.com/?p=767

JOKES:

Just a couple of small jokes I've heard this week that i hope might bring a smale to your faces.

I was walking around a school on open day and came upon a boy sitting by himself in a classroom. I asked him why he was joining in all the fun with the rest of the school.
"I was caught stealing apples sir"
That's not fair I though missing everything just for stealing a few apples.
At that moment a teacher came past.
"Jones" he said "tell the gentleman the whole truth, it was not just apples was it?"

"No sir" the boy replied "It was Apples, Dells, Compacts and HP's"

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I was in the pub yesterday when I suddenly realized I desperately
needed to pas gas. The music was really, really loud, so I timed my
gas passing with the beat.

After a couple of songs, I started to feel better. I finished my
pint and noticed that everybody was staring at me..

Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my iPod.

Latest Storyheart and Across the Pond News

Across the Pond is a YA, teen, romance or what ever you like to call it book for the young and young at heart.

Over the past few weeks I have been lucky enough to have interviews and reviews posted at all sorts of blogs and locations, about myself and my book "Across the Pond". Many of these I have shared with you on one blog or another. This week is no exception with several blog write-ups as well as some fresh reviews on amazon (those I'll share tomorrow).

Today though I received notification from a previous guest from my "Book and a Chat" blog radio show... Cherie Burbach. Cherie and I had a really enjoyable show.

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Across-the-Pond/2009/04/22/A-BOOK-AND-A-CHAT-with-Cherie-Burbach-internet-dating-special

So today I received notification that Cherie had posted an interview that I had with her, nice enough. Then I went to her site Working Writers and read her introduction.

I first talked to Barry Eva a few months ago, when I was a guest on his show A Book and a Chat. He made me feel immediately comfortable and as a result, the interview was one of the most fun I’ve ever done. Barry has a natural ability to put someone at ease and talk about the things that people are really interested in.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also an accomplished author! His book, Across the Pond, gets rave reviews on Amazon and shows just how much Barry’s fans appreciate him.

I know you’re going to love this interview.

Talk about a build up!!!

Any way here is the link, I hope like Cherie kindly states you will "love this interview"

STORYHEART SUNDAY UK BLOG - TICKETY-BOO

Tickety-Boo

Yesterday I was hunting around for a copy of a song I heard a while ago thinking to replace the opening music for my “Book and a Chat” radio shows which currently is set to “Tea for Two”. The reason being, the show is aimed to be a friendly chat between two friends over a cup a tea/coffee. The guests I have had so far and the show has been running since February with over forty shows so far and a waiting list for guests going into November.

Anyway I was looking for a song called “Tickety-Boo” by one of my favorite singers Ralph McTell, who sang the song along with Billy Connolly with the launch in October 18th 1999, Tickety-Boo is tea. The sales of this tea in eighteen months after the launch, Tickety-Boo had already raised over £50,000 to help children in India, China, Romania and Tibet.

The song not only starts with a whistling kettle coming to the boil but has such wonderful lines as…

“A little cup and saucery is magic in the morning.”

And…
“Tickety-Boo, isn't that nice? The only cup of tea that makes you feel good twice. “

Needless to say I could not find my copy (old cassette) nor find a place on line to purchase or down load the music.

Today I did find the old cassette, and also why I had not played the music as the cassette due I would guess to little fingers was broken.

So while I hunt the internet for another copy I though I’d check up on the meaning of
"tickety-boo"

This is the best I have found…

There are a number of theories regarding the origin of the expression "tickety-boo" (also sometimes spelt "ticketty-boo", tiggity-boo") meaning "all in order, satisfactory, as it should be." or " Everything is going fine"."Things are proceeding smoothly or quickly".
It appeared in the early 1920s, well before World War II, and was in general use by the 1940s. It is still used in UK by people of "a certain age" and therefore has become rather old fashioned.
There is the theory that it is a relic of the British colonial presence in India and it may have originated in the British military. One of the most accepted and common theories about "tickety-boo" connects it to the Hindi expression "tikai babu" or "tickee babu" meaning "Everything's alright, sir".

So this week when people ask how you are feeling, just tell them.

“I’m tickety-boo”

Across the Pond by Storyheart - New Reviews

Across the Pond a book for the young and young at heart. YA, teen, romance what ever you like to call it.

With the book now being available in book stores I have started to receive some new reviews from the book launch.

Here is what a couple of readers have said about the book today...

Reviewed by Angela Simmon

With characters so lively you can find each one in your own hometown, Storyheart has written a tale that all teens will fall in love with. A definite homerun, with short chapters, quick-wit and believable situations that teens can relate to. With a brilliant blend of American and English this is a spot on book.

With hilarious language translation problems and a repeat performance by the garlic lady, you cannot go wrong with this book. Although it has mild language it is a perfect read for any young adult. Chocked full of teenage drama, new love, and tons of sports, this is a book for boys or girls.

TCM Reviews for Book,

Storyheart’s British heritage reveals itself as he highlights the differences and similarities between life in England and the U.S. while keenly showing that teenagers are virtually the same everywhere.

It is a short story but full of fun and sure to propel your teenager into summer reading!

Across the Pond by Storyheart: Feb 24th day 17 of my “Virtual Book Tour”

Across the Pond by Storyheart: Feb 24th day 17 of my “Virtual Book Tour”

Two really good stops today with some really fun reading. Some up to date news, and interview or two and a fresh review of my young adult fiction book Across the Pond

Finally I had the 22 staples out of my back from the Op which took place almost 2 weeks ago, so I can sit slightly more comfortable while typing this blog. At least that is what it is in theory; in fact it’s bloody killing me!

February 24th Day 17 – Across the Pond by Storyheart

A couple of great stops today not the normal blog stops, you must visit these two sites and have a laugh as I did writing the blogs. I’m sure you will enjoy them.

Firstly a stop at today was “

A book trivia interview at As the Page Turn

http://asthepagesturn.wordpress.com/2009/02/24/book-trivia-interview-with-young-adult-romance-author-barry-eva-aka-storyheart/#comment-289

It was really fun having such interesting questions to answer and I hope they bring a smile to your face as they did mine.

Second Stop was back at “THE PLOT”

http://theplotline.wordpress.com/2009/02/24/interview-with-fred-squire-from-across-the-pond-by-barry-eva/#comment-621

This was something different; I had to interview one of the characters of the book and of course chose Fred. The great rapport we had between Fred and myself I hope came over in the interview. ;)

Third Stop was Shooting Star Magazine

http://shootingstarsmag.blogspot.com/2009/02/across-pond-review-q.html

The interview with Lauren proved so much fun she actually had to trim the interview down as it went on way too long. Please stop and pay a visit and enjoy our chat

Across the Pond is a short, fun read. I liked Fred's character for the most part and enjoyed the mishaps he found himself in due to the language "barriers." His project was fun and I really liked seeing the various words and their meanings between the U.S. and England. It was exciting to see that I knew most of them as well!!

REVIEWS”

I got a three star review at Amazon, my very first review under 4 stars, yet the person who did the review really liked the book…

Great mix of teenage love and baseball, February 24, 2009
By Roxanne Green - See all my reviews

Reading Across the Pond brought me back to my teenage years. Oh the feeling of young love. First love. This book has a great mix of romance, teen drama and baseball. It was interesting to see the differences between the languages separated by "the pond" as well. I can't wait to read the sequel on the other side of the pond. My teenage daughter will love to read this as well even though at times I wish the writer had gone more into depth and dragged the suspense out a little longer.

I wondered what reviews Roxanne had done before on Amazon, as one does to see if perhaps she normally gave three stars. The only other review was for

VEET Facial Wax Strips: 20 Count

Best Ever Wax Strips

For which she gave 5 stars. Lol

Whatever it seems she still enjoyed the book and I hope her teenage daughter will enjoy the book as well.

Across the Pond – Feb 3rd Virtual Book Tour Day 2

Across the Pond – Feb 3rd Virtual Book Tour Day 2

Tuesday and the second day of my virtual book tour for me Storyheart, and my young adult romance novel Across the Pond.

The day started off with a wonderful review from Writers in the Sky which I will post on a separate blog.

Today’s Tour Stop:

Feb. 3 – Today’s Author on Blog Talk Radio (podcast) http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Circle-Of-Seven/2009/01/16/Todays-Author

Café of Dreams (book review) www.cafeofdreams.blogspot.com

The radio blog was good fun; I always enjoy chatting to people.
At Café of Dreams I received a wonderful review.

http://www.cafeofdreams.blogspot.com/

Ok, so this may be dubbed as a "young adult" romance novel, but I, at 34, gobbled it up and loved it! I simply adored the characters of 15 year old English born Fred, Brittany, the daughter of the couple he is staying with while visiting in America, as well as the couple themselves, Phil and Julie. The author did a phenomenal job of bringing each and every one to life, through descriptions, actions and dialog.

This is a delightful story of acceptance; standing up for what is right, selflessness and first love. I can honestly say that I cannot think of a single thing that I did not like about Across the Pond. As an extra added piece of fun (and education) Fred must work on a school project, while in America, listing some of the language differences he comes across in everyday conversation. I found this to be quite interesting. Though I have heard some of the terms, several were new to me and fun to learn.

Fred quickly becomes Brit's Knight, helping her work through emotions and bringing justice, for her, for a past trauma. Fred is a very kind, generous and admirable character that the reader falls in love with, from the very beginning. There is never a lull in the story and at the end, I was left wanting more! Perhaps an additional story will come about with Brit visiting Fred in England?! *hint hint, Mr Eva, lol!

Though geared toward young adult, I honestly believe this is a marvelous story for any age. It is sure to bring a smile to the face and a warmth to the heart.

*overall rating 4.5/5

I also received another 5 star review at Amazon:

***** Great Read, Fun Journey February 2 2009
Jenifer S (Ball Ground, GA, USA
This was such a fun book to read. The main character, Fred, has all kinds of adventures as he tries to fit into a new culture. His parents win a 2 week trip to Australia and Fred goes to stay with friends of theirs. He soon falls for a beautiful girl, Brit. Watching Fred maneuvers a new relationship and a new culture makes this book so interesting and amusing. If you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a foreign country, you will love this book. It has humor, romance and may even teach you a thing or too about the differences between England and America. This book will appeal to young adults and adults alike. I thoroughly enjoy reading about what happened "across the pond."

All in all another really good day for my Storyheart and my book Across the Pond

Fridays Review:

***** England to America adventure, January 23, 2009
By T. Williams (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews

Across the Pond is a great read. I love how the author pointed out all the differences between England and America in a funny way. I enjoyed the story and imagine any teen would as well. The characters are down to earth and human and the story is one kids can relate to. The romance felt very real and I read this from cover to cover in one sitting. This is an excellent book.

I like the part, and several others have said the same… that the person read it from cover to cover in one sitting.
Another plus from this review was that when I checked their other reviews I noticed I had a five star and Oprah’s Book only got four stars *grin*

So that’s all the news for today more to come tomorrow.

Spent yesterday evening at my karaoke companies Christmas Dinner. A little bit late you might think. But with 30-40 KDJ’s (that’s karaoke dj’s) obviously Christmas and the New year is a busy time for us all.

As normal the evening went turned into some fun event, with first the dinner then a trip to a local bar and a karaoke evening. As you can imagine having that number of singer and people whose job it is at such events to insure people have a good time, there was much fun, singing and everything else going on. With so many singers we each had to choose one song to sing, and the variety was amazing. The rest of the bar patrons got a free show equal to any talent show you might see on TV.

There is not much going on right now regarding the book, but I’m sure by the time I get back from my trip “Across the Pond” there will be much news to pass on to you all

Don’t forget, if you get a chance, check out the great reviews I have, or rather my book has received so far.

Across the Pond - January 2nd News/Reviews

Like so many I actually have today off work, even where people are working the amount of "vacation" time taken for the one day back before the weekend leaves a lot of companies with reduced coverage. The amount of "working from" also increases. I for one go to work to have a break from home, though that is partly caused by having two little ones creating havoc around the place.

There has not been much going on with the book stuff, I have done a count up and am currently owed over 20 reviews , I guess I'll just have to wait. Right now it's just bills that keep coming through, Facebook etc all add up each day for adverts, I just wonder if anybody is purchasing copies I do hope so, but will not find out for several months yet.

I did however receive a a call and a booking for a school visit end of March. I have already worked out my presentation, with as much humor and learning I can manage in a short period of time.

Any way here we go into 2009, I will be paying a short visit back "acorss the pond" next week, which will enable me to check a few things before I start shading out my next novel...

I was going to call it "Acoss the Pond and Back again" but guess some Ho bit character might have used that idea.
