As anybody who has read me reviews interviews or heard my comments on either my own radio program or where I have been a guest, you will know I am a great believer in what I call the "Small Blogger". Today's guest is fairly new to blogging, and this interview I hope will encourage her and show others how much bloggers are appreciated by us authors.

What is your favorite author/book of all time?

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

How many books do you have in your library?

On my own bookshelf I currently have around 90 books, but I am so excited to see it growing every day.

How many books do you read a week?

It varies. Sometimes I can read 2 or 3 books in a week; sometimes it takes me a couple of weeks to finish only 1 book. It depends on how captivating the writing and plot is.

When is your favorite time/location to read?

At night when all of my family is asleep, the house is peaceful, and I can easily slip into the story that sits in my hands.

If you could be a character in any book who would that be and why?

Oh my, that is a real tough one. I think I would say Annalisa Townsend from To Catch a Pirate by Jade Parker. She is a strong, brave, and wonderful character. Her story is adventurous and I would love to travel on a pirate ship, meet the phenomenal cast of characters that Jade Parker created, and experience the story through my own eyes. But my favorite thing about reading is that all those characters I wish to be, I can be. Just for a while, as I escape into the book.

Have you ever thought about or actually written a book yourself?

Yes, I definitely want to write a book at some point in my life. I’m one of those little high school nerds that sit on her computer and write stories when I have the time. I've started and stopped many things, and have currently realized it's easier to just write short stories. For now anyway. But I am writing a story with one of my friends for fun. We take turns adding onto the story, and I'm very pleased by how it's turning out. It's currently around 40 or 50 pages.

If you had a chance to advertise your blog in any way you could, what would you choose and why?

I would choose an extremely populat author like J.K. Rowling or Stephanie Meyer to make a positive statement about my blog. I’m sure that would bring in some readers. ;)

If you had a chance to interview any one author who would that be and why?

Libba Bray, for multiple reasons. First and foremost, her books blow my mind away and I would love to hear about the person behind the magic. Second, she went to my high school, sat in the same boring classrooms as I did, and has now turned into an amazing author. Libba Bray’s mom was my mom’s English teacher. And I have seen pictures of Libba Bray in my mom’s yearbook. What a small world! I think it would be really cool to interview her and ask all the questions I'm curious about.

If you had a chance what period of history would you live in?

I am happy with living in this time and age. I like showering every day, having indoor plumbing, and all of those luxuries we have nowadays. But I would definitely love to travel to different periods of history just for a brief visit. The renaissance era is definitely on the top of my list.

What is one thing about you that readers might not know?

I have 5 brothers and am the only girl in the family. I enjoy doing weird things in public places with my friends (like, for example, yesterday my friends and I were at the town square. We sat in a circle on the lawn in front of the old courthouse and began meditating and doing yoga. We received many strange looks.) And the last fun tid bit about me is that I love hot chocolate, even in the summer.

What would you like to change about you if you could?

I would love to have the natural ability to sing. I am a theater person, and would have a blast being a part in a musical. Yet seeing as I can’t sing, I’ll just be a technician for the school musicals. I don’t really mind too much, though, because I enjoy teaching as well.

Have you ever heard of a “Tree Kangaroo?”

Um… no, don’t think so. Sounds intriguing though…

A Laugh, a Joke and an English Accent

As I sometimes introduce my blog radio show "A Book and Chat" which by the way is becoming so popular I am now taking bookings for November. I am not really a writer, I always class myself as a Story Teller. However what I love doing is having fun, something I think we all should try and have in our lives.

Just a couple of small jokes I've heard this week that i hope might bring a smale to your faces.

I was walking around a school on open day and came upon a boy sitting by himself in a classroom. I asked him why he was joining in all the fun with the rest of the school.
"I was caught stealing apples sir"
That's not fair I though missing everything just for stealing a few apples.
At that moment a teacher came past.
"Jones" he said "tell the gentleman the whole truth, it was not just apples was it?"

"No sir" the boy replied "It was Apples, Dells, Compacts and HP's"

I was in the pub yesterday when I suddenly realized I desperately
needed to pas gas. The music was really, really loud, so I timed my
gas passing with the beat.

After a couple of songs, I started to feel better. I finished my
pint and noticed that everybody was staring at me..

Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my iPod.

Across the Pond is a YA, teen, romance or what ever you like to call it book for the young and young at heart.


Over the past few weeks I have been lucky enough to have interviews and reviews posted at all sorts of blogs and locations, about myself and my book "Across the Pond". Many of these I have shared with you on one blog or another. This week is no exception with several blog write-ups as well as some fresh reviews on amazon (those I'll share tomorrow).

Today though I received notification from a previous guest from my "Book and a Chat" blog radio show... Cherie Burbach. Cherie and I had a really enjoyable show.

So today I received notification that Cherie had posted an interview that I had with her, nice enough. Then I went to her site Working Writers and read her introduction.

I first talked to Barry Eva a few months ago, when I was a guest on his show A Book and a Chat. He made me feel immediately comfortable and as a result, the interview was one of the most fun I’ve ever done. Barry has a natural ability to put someone at ease and talk about the things that people are really interested in.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also an accomplished author! His book, Across the Pond, gets rave reviews on Amazon and shows just how much Barry’s fans appreciate him.

How long have you been blogging?

Actually this is the first Book that I blogged about! That is kind of special then

What books do you read?

I read mostly mysteries, some romance, and some young adult. I also love fantasy. And retelling of the classic fairy tales

What is your favorite book and author of 2009?

Ah tough question because 2009 isn’t over yet! But I definitely enjoyed Across the Pond and probably Ridley Pearson’s Killer Summer! I also loved Poison Study, Magic Study and Fire Study by Maria Snyder.

What is your favorite author/book of all time?

Of all time? I have to choose…there are so many. I love James Patterson, Ridley Pearson, Dave Barry, Maggie Sefton, Joanna Carl, Cleo Coyle/Alice Kimberly, Laura Childs. As I said there are too many to choose!

How many books do you have in your library?

I have no idea but I have a library in my house…maybe 1500-3000…I’m not good at estimating.

How many books do you read a week?

Somewhere between 2-4.

Not counting yours, what is your favorite blog to follow?

readergirlreviews.blogspot.com she's one of my really good friends and I’m new to this whole blogging thing!

When is your favorite time/location to read?

Favorite time is after school and on the weekends ALL the time. And Location-the couch or anywhere I can get comfortable.

If you could be a character in any book who would that be and why?

Probably Hermione from Harry Potter. I know that is cliché but, I’m a lot like her with her showing the teachers up so that’s the most obvious choice.

Have you ever thought about or actually written a book yourself?

I’m currently writing my own book and I’m going to try to be done with it by October.

If you had a chance to advertise your blog in any way you could, what would you chose and why?

Make a little flyer and ask my friend who works at a bookstore to distribute it to the customers!

If you had a chance to interview any one author who would that be and why?

Well I have already did a short review with you, and I’m doing a short one with Ridley Pearson but I’d love to interview Laura Childs because her books are set in New Orleans and ever since going there, I’ve been fascinated with the culture and the ghost stories.

If you had a chance what period of history would you live in?

The Medieval times because I just love the thought of running around in a big huge castle in Europe

What is one thing about you that readers might not know?

I love watching sports on TV.

What would you like to change about you if you could?

This probably sounds really arrogant, but I love everything about me. I’ve learned to love my imperfections

How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging for about a year now.

What books do you read?

I read any kind of book. I'm interested in a lot of different things so I have to read many different kinds of book. But my favorite would probably have to be Young Adult. It's what I read the most.

What is your favorite book and author of 2009?

Uhm, my favorite book of 2009, that I've read so far, would have to be Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult. She's one of my favorite authors.


What is your favorite author/book of all time?

My favorite book of all time would have to be The Lovely Bones by Alice Seabold.

How many books do you have in your library?

I have over 150.

How many books do you read a week?

It usually depends for me. Sometimes its 1 or 2, other times it's up to 6.

My favorite blog to follow would have to be.. Books Make Great Lovers. Ashley runs a very nice blog and we read different kinds of books, so sometimes when I need a certain kind of book to read, I go to her(:

If you could be a character in any book who would that be and why?

Oh, this is a hard one. I would probably have to choose, Tally Youngblood from The Uglies series. I think that it would just be really fun to live her life, also my friends say that I seem a lot like her, so it would be fun to see if that really is true(:

Have you ever thought about or actually written a book yourself?

Yes, I have thought about it. I'm currently working on one right now. I've started a couple before and one of them actually came very close to being completed.

If you had a chance to advertise your blog in any way you could, what would you chose and why?

I'm not really sure. There are so many different was and I don't know which way would be the best for a blog. But I'd probably have to say, having a well known author talk about you and/or your blog(: something like that.


If you had a chance to interview any one author who would that be and why?

For me, it would be a hard choice choosing between Ellen Hopkins and Jodi Picoult. I would absolutely love to interview both of them. But if I was really forced to choose one, I think I would have to choose Jodi Picoult because she is my favorite author so it would be amazing to have that chance.

What is one thing about you that readers might not know?

Readers might not know that I'm really good at listening and giving advice. I make friends really easily and people always seem to trust me. I'll help anyone with anything.

I read all types of books: mainstream fiction, young adult, thriller, horror, chick lit.

So far, Everyone is Beautiful by Katherine Center

I can’t pick just one book. My favorite authors are Stephen King, John Steinbeck, James Patterson, Suzanne Collins…I could go on and on!

I’d love to be a character in a Jane Austen or Charlotte Bronte novel. The female characters are generally very strong, independent women.

Perhaps when I was young, but no, not recently

If you had a chance to advertise your blog in any way you could, what would you chose and why?

Word of mouth! I think that’s the best way to advertise.

If you had a chance to interview any one author who would that be and why?

Stephen King or James Patterson. I think they are both tremendously talented writers.

What is one thing about you that readers might not know?

I have a ten year old son with ADD who is a reluctant reader. It’s been my goal to introduce him to the amazing world of reading. He’s recently discovered a few series that he’s enjoyed, and it warms my heart to see him read for pleasure!

A BOOK AND A CHAT with Estevan Vega

As a young boy, Estevan Vega never really felt interested in the written word. Far more fascinating things like comic book superheroes and sketching fantastical beings caught his eye. But in the fifth grade, writing short essays for a standoffish teacher ignited a fire that is still burning. Using his imaginative father as a springboard for ideas, Vega set out to write a full manuscript. His dream to become a published author came forth when he was just 15 years old, releasing his first literary creation, Servant of the Realm,to the world, a story about a teenager who sees the future deaths of those he loves and tries to change it.

The Sacred Sin, his second book, was published when he was 18, and shows a darker edge and deeper intensity than his first effort. The Sacred Sin bleeds with honesty and emotion, and tells the story of Jude Foster, a cynical self-loathing detective,assigned to bring down a serial killer capable of stealing victim's souls without ever touching them.
