"Across the Pond" News

It's been a while since I passed on any news about my book, perhaps you thought there hasn't been any?

REVIEWS:

My total on Amazon is now numbering "103"

Since the last time I wrote about reaching the magic "100" I have received a five star and two four star reviews. Here are a few snippets of what the reviews say...

"...a cute love story. Highly recommended for teens."

"Ahhh, young love! This book reminded me of what it was like to fall in love. The young characters were so sweet, I wanted to meet them. This is an easy read and definitely worth your time."

"This is a great read for tweens and teens - and the rest of us who still love YA fiction. There is romance, adventure, misunderstandings and even a big bully you can watch get his comeuppance! Fred comes from England and stays with Brit and her family in America while his parents go to Australia. While he's there, he and Brit fall in love.

Brit and Fred are funny and endearing. I admit it took me a few pages to really get into the story, but when I did, I couldn't stop reading! It's also fun to watch Fred work out all the differences between the languages of the two countries. All in all, Across the Pond is an enchanting story of first love."

RADIO NEWS:

While my own "Book and Chat" radio shows are going from strength to strength I have appeared as a guest recently on these shows.

I managed to sell over twenty copies of my book in the couple of days I was at the Big E, not a huge amount, but more than I expected. I am also working with Barnes and Noble and Borders to have copies on the shelves, though you can already order it for them, it now being distributed by Ingrams.

An E-Book PDF file of the book is now available check out the book web site for more details

I have also been asked to a couple of events to talk or be on authors panels.

“High School Musical - Across the Pond”

On the day when Disney have purchased Marvel Entertainments, for $4 billion in cash and stocks. Bringing the prospects of many more films involving the more than 5,000 characters, I got to pondering over how you change a book into a film, or even get a book looked at to become a film.

As several people have remarked in my reviews the Across the Pond would make a great film, I would even suggest the next “High School Musical” perhaps Zach Efron, now’s he finished making "17 Again", could polish up his English accent and play Fred?

Both Disney and Hallmark have been mentioned as possible people who might be interested and I’ve had a couple of emails asking about film rites, but where do I go from here.

Authors need to supply authentic Hollywood-style book “coverage" of their books, as well as provide Hollywood studios, production companies, networks, agencies, and producers access to this coverage.

Coverage means a 1 to 3 page report including synopsis of the book, and comments that would include a perspective of the plot/characters/theme as well as the adaptability of the work into a screenplay, analysis of marketability, and other pertinent comments. This report is used by studios, production companies, networks, etc. to evaluate new books and screenplays they're considering acquiring for production.

So I guess my next step is to contact people/companies who can supply this service.

After that… well you never know.

High School Musical - Across the Pond

My mind is making up songs as I write.

Just imagine the leaving scene, the whole cast doing a “Leaving on a Jet Plane” number all around the airport as the two have to say goodbye… complete with flash backs.

Across the Pond - Janaury 1st - news/reviews

Happy New Year to all my readers or welcome to new readers if that is better. 2009 another year, and what will it bring?

It did not start too well, with me missing any form of New years celebration after the aches that have been down my left side being migrated to my right side thanks to some physio, that perhaps moved things a little too far.

Then what about my book, after all that is what this blog is all about.

"Across the Pond" by "Storyheart" a "Young Adult Fiction" novel for the young and young at heart.

Since the book was launched in October so much seems to have happened in such a short time. So much that with the calming down over the holiday period I feel almost withdrawal symptoms.

Each day I check the various web pages search engines, email for any new news, or reviews, and it is almost a sadness when there is nothing fresh to read/see. I guess I have been spoiled. Having 24 reviews in what really is such a short three months.

I know there are many more that might come along, books that have been sent out, messages from people promising reviews etc, so I guess I will just have to wait.

So until the next radio program, the school visit or the appearance on Oprah, I will just keep checking, writing my blogs and hoping that people out there are enjoying my book.
